The United States Office of Air & Marine (OAM) interdiction unit recently adopted the 7.62mm FN SCAR-H (aka SCAR 17) rifle for law enforcement purposes.

According to Tactical-Life, the decision to adopt the SCAR-H was partially influenced by USSOCOM’s decision to adopt the weapon, although OAM also did its own testing and evaluations. The new rifle was to be reliable, adaptable, and very accurate. The SCAR-H was tested alongside competing weapons, and in questionnaires following the tests it was found that the OAM testing group preferred the SCAR-H over the other weapons. For optics to go with the rifle, OAM selected the ELCAN SpecterDR.
